the day off that actually means less
Why is it when the husband gets a day off work due to a holiday, that it actually leaves the wife less time to herself?

i relate to this completely! my husband travels a lot and I always feel like I have more "me" time when he travels and I play the role of single mom, than when he is off...
Um, because you made the critical error of staying home instead of dashing off to Chapters.

I have the same problem. One more person to pick up after and entertain for a day. I prefer holidays away from the house, so I get a holiday too.

Husband is a pilot and as much as I like it when he's around to "help" out, his idea of "help" doesn't always coincide with mine...
Sure is an adjustment. Nice to see others have the same challenge.
